ineral Trioxide Aggregate as Repair Material for Furc erforation: Case Series
نویسنده
چکیده
3 F a bstract he purpose of treating furcal perforation is to sea rtificial communication between the endodontic spa nd the periradicular tissue to prevent alveolar b esorption and damage to the periodontal ligame hese complications are not infrequent in cases urcal and/or old perforations, which show a w rognosis than fresh, small, coronal, and apical pe ations. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is wid sed to seal perforations because of its biocompatib nd sealability. Ten cases of furcal perforation w elected at the department of Endodontics, Univer f Florence. All the perforations were cleaned w aOCl, EDTA, and ultrasonic tips and sealed with ithout internal matrix. Finally, the teeth were e dontically treated and coronally restored. Clinical a adiographic follow-ups were done at 6 months, 1 years, and 5 years. After 5 years, the absen eriradicular radiolucent lesions, pain. and swelli long with functional tooth stability indicated a essful outcome of sealing perforations in 9 out o eeth. O n e patient dropped out of the study after -year follow-up and could not be contacted urther recalls. The results confirm that MTA with atrix provides an effective seal of root perforat nd clinical healing of the surrounding periodon issue. (J Endod 2008;34:1130 –1133)

Repair of a furcation perforation with mineral trioxide aggregate: A case report with 6 year follow-ups
Perforations might occur due to carious lesions, tooth resorption or they might be iatrogenic during endodontic treatment or in most cases they might occur during post space preparation. CASE REPORT: A 31-year-old female patient presented with a complaint of chronic pain on tooth #30 during last 6 months and sensitive to bite since a few days ago. There was a mild swelling on the gingival tissu...
متن کاملRepair of Furcal Perforation with Mineral Trioxide Aggregate: a Case Report
Mineral Trioxide Aggregate is a material developed for endodontics that appears to be a significant improvement over other materials for procedures in bone. It is the first restorative material that allows for the overgrowth of cementum and the regeneration of periodontal ligament. The present case report illustrates the use of MTA in treating a case of perforation in the furcation area with lo...
متن کاملUse of mineral trioxide aggregrate in the non-surgical repair of perforating invasive cervical resorption.
Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has shown potential as a repair material for perforations. This clinical case demonstrates that when MTA was used as a repair material for root perforation due to invasive cervical resorption, the tooth was well in function for 27 months. Both clinical and radiographic follow-up showed a stable condition without any probing defect, ongoing root resorption, or ap...
متن کاملUse of mineral trioxide aggregate for repair of furcal perforations.
The histologic response to intentional perforation in the furcations of 28 mandibular premolars in seven dogs was investigated. In half the teeth, the perforations were repaired immediately with either amalgam or mineral trioxide aggregate; in the rest the perforations were left open to salivary contamination before repair. All repaired perforations were left for 4 months before histologic exam...
متن کاملMineral trioxide aggregate: a new material for endodontics.
BACKGROUND Mineral trioxide aggregate, or MTA, is a new material developed for endodontics that appears to be a significant improvement over other materials for procedures in bone. It is the first restorative material that consistently allows for the overgrowth of cementum, and it may facilitate the regeneration of the periodontal ligament. CASE DESCRIPTION The authors present five cases in w...
